+ R.I.P. Levi the Lobster By Jason 28 September 2007 at 7:08 am 1,165 views 1 Comment
I’m sure most of you remember Levi… he was my pet Blue Crayfish that I got for my birthday back in 2005. In fact, the very first post in my blog on this domain (after the AutoPatcher blog) involved Levi. He lived a pretty good life, he was almost three years old, which from what I can tell online, is the average lifespan for a crayfish like him. It’s really sad that he’s gone… I dunno if we’re going to get another, or if we’re going to wait a while. The first pic below was taken the day we got him… you’ll not he’s about the size of the gravel. In the second pic it was his full-grown size… note how big he is compared to the same gravel. He grew a lot while we had him, and if anyone out there is thinking of a Blue Lobster as a pet, I’d suggest you get one young so you can watch him grow up!

You can see a bunch more of his pics here in my photo gallery… he will be missed, such an interesting creature.
For those wondering, he died from what appeared to be old age. Over the past 3 months he has slowed down… not moving around as much and 2 days ago he kind of went and layed in a corner of the tank. He was still alive yesterday, he moved his claws at me when I tapped him, but today he was still… I figure as far as deaths go, it was a pretty peaceful one.
+ Kinda bored with this layout By Jason 27 September 2007 at 6:46 am 307 views No Comments
Hmmm… I’m getting kinda bored with my current layout. I think I need to re-design it, as I haven’t touched this thing up in forever now. Should I go dark? Keep it light? Completely change it? Keep it kinda the same? Who knows… maybe later this week I’ll play around with some designs and see what comes from it.
+ CrossLoop By Jason 26 September 2007 at 8:51 am 843 views No Comments
The Problem: You have a client that is computer illiterate and you need to help them configure settings and programs on their PC without spending any money. They are running Windows Vista Home Basic, so they do not have Remote Desktop, nor will most VNC programs (such as TightVNC or UltraVNC) work without major configuring of services and other settings.
The Solution: Have you and your client download and install CrossLoop. CrossLoop is completely free and built off of VNC, but it works on every version of Windows 98 through Vista. Once downloaded and installed, just run the program (make sure you are in the “Join” tab) and have your client click the “Host” tab. Type in the numbers they read off to you and hit “Connect”. They will then be prompted to allow you access to the PC. That’s it. Once they let you in, TightVNC launches through CrossLoop and you are free to help out. Check out the screenshot:

For those wondering, this solution came to me through much searching after being on the phone for 4 hours last night trying to help my Aunt and Uncle with their first ever PC. It’s just good to know for the future.
+ Mmmm… Toasty! By Jason 23 September 2007 at 12:01 pm 1,483 views No Comments
Well, it seems our burns were a bit worse than we thought… Jessica can barely walk and I think this is the worst burn I’ve gotten in about 2 years. Note to self: Sunscreen!

Nice, huh? All my burn is on one side, so I got a kind of Two-Face thing going on. Poor Jess, though… not pictured are her legs, which make the rest of her look pretty good.

Edit – Actually it turns out she doesn’t mind people seeing, so below is what her legs look like… click for large.
See, the sun can hurt you. Fo’ reals.
