+ April Showers bring headaches… By 31 March 2008 at 7:02 am 778 views No Comments

It’s not quite April yet, but it looks like the storms have started a day early. Not only did it rain all night, it’s looking like it’ll continue through most of today:

Raining again

Now, I love storms… I really do, but some of you may remember back in October when I complained about our leaking roof. I left off with the following paragraph:

That’s right, after months of telling the management that we can hear dripping when we stand in the kitchen, and them saying they’ve fixed it, the water that’s been slowly rotting the roof broke through right next to the light on the ceiling (I’m sure that’s good for the wiring). Nice. So here I sit, missing work, waiting for the roofers and the maintenance crew to get their collective butts up here to fix this. Sigh They’d better get here soon, seriously…

Well, if soon meant “5 months later we’d still be waiting for them”, then they may get here soon. That’s right! After many calls and many excuses by the management as to why it hasn’t been fixed yet (they’re too busy, now it’s too wet, now it’s too cold, now it’s too whatever I can come up with), this is what we get this morning:

Raining again

Raining again

Sweet… that looks familiar (note the new crack).  For those wondering, it’s white now because it got painted over… not fixed.  So I wonder what the excuse will be today? “Too wet,” maybe? “Too busy,” possibly? Maybe we should just get too busy to pay rent? I wonder how well that would go over? It’s not like we’ve been forced out of our house recently because their faulty equipment started a fire, and it’s definitely not like we’ve ever had issues here before.  Updates whenever they happen, perhaps next year some time.

More parents using txt language to make their child's name gr8 | the Daily Mail

It might not be every parent's idea of a "gr8" way to name a baby.

But our growing habit of using text messages to communicate appears to be having an impact on what we call our children. Anne has been changed to An, Connor to Conna and Laura to Lora.

+ First run of the season! By 30 March 2008 at 6:44 pm 427 views No Comments

Welp, Jess and I just finished our first run of the season! It was incredible!! We’ve been worried that she would be unable to run after her accident last summer in Denver (she slid down the side of Mount Ida and landed on a log with her leg, among other things), but it turns out it went well!! No pain, no issues, no problems! We decided to go the shorter (about 3 miles) route down around Chalco Hills (Wehrspann Lakes), but it was still great! I know this is kind of a boring “so what?” post, but it was exciting to run outside again after the long winter! Whoooo!!

Edit – It’s now 8:45 pm, and Jessica’s toenail has cracked in half it seems from the pressure of the run.  While not uncommon, she’s completely upset at it.  Poor dear!

WordPress 2.5

I shall be upgrading in just a few minutes! As usual, I shall edit this post once it has finished!!

EDIT - All done!  The biggest change I see right away is the plugin page now has the Active Plugins shaded green and the inactive in white… I like that much more than the gray and white they had been playing with.
