The Legend of Zelda Movie Trailer!!! 01 April 2008 at 1:54 pm by Jason 1,537 views

I was going to wait till tomorrow to post this, but it’s too cool to pass up:

The Legend of Zelda: The Movie @ IGN

Some info:

Few videogame properties hold the cache of The Legend of Zelda. As a film project, it’s on the scale of Lord of the Rings. But no one has tackled a live-action adaptation of the storied franchise… until today. Production Company Rainfall Films has asked IGN to premiere the very first footage from their live-action Zelda film — a very literal adaptation of the magical epic — and, of course, we said, “Yes!”

Much like the indie gem Cloverfield, this project has been shrouded in secrecy and details kept close to the vest. What we do know is that the film is being written and directed by newcomer Sam Balcomb. Going the route of Star Wars: Episode IV, this production decided to cast all unknowns in the iconic roles. Link is played by JR Killigrew, Camille C. Brown portrays a very Elven Princess Zelda, and Gregory Lee Kenyon stars as Ganondorf. You may, however, recognize Camden Toy (see TV’s Buffy and Angel) in the supporting role as Sahasrahla.

You don’t know how long I’ve waited for this day. The movie will be released next April, so be prepared for the midnight showing and costumes!

+ World’s Hardest Game By Jason 28 March 2008 at 9:12 pm 5,472 views No Comments

Here’s a game called, accurately enough, “The World’s Hardest Game”…

The World’s Hardest Game (click to play)

Here’s a screenshot of level 7 (you’re the red square, the blue circles are the enemies, the yellow circles are items you must collect to finish, and the green area is your “goal”):

Look easy?  Give it a try and let me know… we’ll put it this way, the game’s score is how many times you’ve died, and the lower the score the better.  Give it a try!

+ Good News, Everyone! By Jason 20 March 2008 at 12:30 pm 125 views No Comments

The second Futurama movie now has a release date… June 24th! That is less than 100 days away! The movie will be a direct sequel to Bender’s Big Score and will be titled “The Beast With A Billion Backs”. Here is a little more info:

As Bender’s Big Score gets set to air in four installments on Comedy Central later this month, Fox Home Entertainment ahs announced that the next adventure in the series of Futurama DVD movies will be available at retail this summer. The Fate of human and robot-kind is at stake when Futurama: The Beast With A Billion Backs debuts at retail on June 24.

In what Fox is calling the most tentacle-packed Futurama epic, space itself rips open, revealing a gateway to another universe. What lies beyond is a mix of horror and love as the Planet Express crew encounters a repulsive, planet-sized monster with romantic intentions.

The second feature-length Futurama film will be followed by at least two more movies from series creators Matt Groening and David X. Cohen. The show’s entire voice cast and most of its main writers have returned to help revive the series, which FOX cancelled in 2003. Groening, who also created The Simpsons, has told us that Futurama is the animated show he’s most proud of. Those who haven’t picked up Bender’s Big Score on DVD yet can catch it on Comedy Central on March 23 at 8 p.m.

If that wasn’t enough, South Park is now airing all their episodes for free on their website… check it out here:

Awesome, awesome news! One last thing that I’m sure will make you all happy… Hillary Clinton has regained her lead over Barack Obama. Check out the article here… or just read below:

Hillary Clinton has reclaimed the lead from Barack Obama in the Democratic presidential race for the first time since early February, a new national poll out Thursday suggests.

In the latest Gallup daily tracking poll, Clinton holds a 7 point lead over the Illinois senator, 49 to 42 percent. That lead is outside the poll’s statistical margin of error of 3 points — the widest gap between the two candidates in weeks.

Clinton’s last lead was in a Gallup poll taken just after the round Super Tuesday contests, and the two candidates have been statistically tied since. But Obama has held a numerical lead over Clinton for most of that time, and started to decline in the tracking poll late last week — a sign the uproar over his former pastor’s sermon’s may be taking its toll.

It’ll be interesting to see where that goes… can Barack regain his momentum? Will Hillary ride this wave through Pennsylvania and beyond? As usual, only time will tell!

+ Foo Fighters w/ Against Me & Serj Tankian By Jason 29 February 2008 at 12:33 pm 464 views No Comments

Last night we went to the Mid-America Center to see the Foo Fighters, Serj Tankian, and Against Me, and there is only one thing that can be said about this show:

This lineup will rock your face right off. Seriously. My face? Gone. Rocked off. I believe Dave Grohl collects them and stores them in their tour bus for use later (rumor has it that he grinds them up and snorts them before each show).

The seats we won kicked some major ass… we were right in the perfect spot between both stages and we weren’t trampled by the unwashed masses below (then again, we were soaked with beer and saturated with marijuana smoke, so I guess it’s a give and take). The show started right at 7:00 PM with Against Me taking the stage… they put on a great show and it lasted about 30 minutes. Check it:

Once they were all done, the lights came up and the stage was set for a Mr. Serj Tankian, who is doing some solo work (you may know him as the lead singer from a little band called System of a Down). I will tell you this, Serj puts on a great show (it lasted close to an hour)… absolutely brilliant. It was hard to get good shots because of how animated he is (note him trashing the drums in the last pic), but I got a little something for my effort (I need a new “non-professional” camera, it seems):

Finally it was time for the big act… those fighters of foo… the Foo Fighters! The first hour or so of their act was performed on the “main stage” with Dave Grohl showing everyone that he’s still as awesome as we remember. The played a great variety of their old and new stuff, tons of solos (including a drum solo and a triangle solo), and there was just nothing to complain about at all. Pure awesome… here’s a little taste:

At around the mid-way point of the show, the band moved to the smaller “Second” stage, and performed some great acoustic versions of their songs. It was harder to get a good shot while they were there because my camera seemed upset at the lighting, but I got some:

In the end they went back to the main stage to finish off the night, then left….. or did they? After about 5 minutes Dave appeared on the big screen and asked if we wanted an encore… One song? Nah. Two songs? Nah… how about three songs? Sounds great! The band came back out and partied with us for another 15 minutes… it was spectacular:

We ended up getting home after midnight, but it was totally worth it. I can’t wait for our next big concert… I hope to have a better cam by then! :D
