I have recently obtained an older Dell laptop and thought it would be fun to install Fedora on it. After almost a week of fighting with drivers and software it was suggested that I give Ubuntu a try. Now I know that it’s the new game in town when it comes to Linux, but it looks pretty good so I think I’ll give it a try. I’m currently burning the ISO and about to start loading it up. I’m hoping that it goes better than Fedora, and who knows, maybe they’ll get another convert.

That’s about it for now… oh! Go play with Twitter. It’s quite fun!

+ Bad song choice! By Jason 06 June 2008 at 1:30 pm 182 views No Comments
The Ramones famously sang “Hey Ho, Lets Go” many years ago and many people instantly recognize the beat as soon as it hits the radio. Sadly, this is a poor song choice when it comes to refering to certian topics (especially if you wanna get clever).
Howard Kurtz, a Washington Post Staff Writer recently wrote a column about Hillary leaving the race for President… the issue? The title of the article:
Here’s a screenshot incase they “fix” it:

For those not “hip” on the lingo… from Bartelby:

Hmmm… yeah, that’s not a good thing. Let this be a lesson to you writers out there… pay attention to what you’re saying before you let it out into the world.
UPDATE - Looks like they caught it:

Nice catch, guys! Took a bit of time, though… 5 and a half hours, tsk tsk.
+ Windows XP SP3 Released to Windows Update! By Jason 29 April 2008 at 12:58 pm 580 views 1 Comment
From Neowin.net & Bink.nu:
Windows XP SP3 is finally here for those that use Windows Update, and here is a direct link to the stand-alone version of SP3 for x86 XP systems (32 bit). Thanks Bink! Neowin reader WindowsNT says: “There won’t be a 64bit version until Windows Server 2003 hits SP3 since they share the same code base.”
Here is an interesting article regarding SP3 performance, ignoring the fact that Vista SP1 is still faster than XP SP2/SP3 users will enjoy a performance boost over SP2. When will people learn that Vista ain’t all bad!
Windows® XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) includes all previously released updates for the operating system. This update also includes a small number of new functionalities, which do not significantly change customers’ experience with the operating system.

Again, from Neowin:
Known issues:
On some hardware configurations, you may encounter the Windows XP SP3 BSoD Endless Reboot Loop with Stop c0000139 on GDI32.dll Error, follow this guide to repair your XP installation. Thanks daPhoenix for the tip!
Also, if you need the Uxtheme.dll, you can use my patch (it’s English Only):
