Tomorrow is the day for you to download Mega Man 9 via WiiWare! Whoo! I’m quite excited for this game as Mega Man was one of my favorite game series growing up and I love the idea of a new game done in the format of an old 8-bit series. Here are the release dates (from Chud):
Wii Ware – September 22, 2008
PSN – September 25, 2008
XBLA – October 1, 2008
Pure awesome! Did you happen to see the “packaging” made for the game?
It may just be a press kit, but man I want one bad!! Also, along the same lines, Mega Man 2 was released for the Virtual Console.
This is also pretty awesome news! I was looking for some way to relax this week (I’ve been working our bi-annual tradeshow all weekend) and both of these games should help me do it!
What is the deal with Stand Up Comics? Do they really have to stand up? Does this somehow help the jokes they are telling? What if they get tired and have to sit down? And why don’t they just sit down anyway? It seems it’d make them more comfortable, I mean, you don’t have to stand up to watch. What if they break an ankle… do they have to take time off, or do they have to bill themselves as a temporarily-sitting comic? I’d bet that’s their worst nightmare… I mean, who wants to see a comic in a cast? “Well, I was planning on going out to see my favorite stand up comedian, and I heard he has to be in a wheelchair. I’m sorry, but unless he’s standing the jokes just don’t work for me.” Stand up comics… huh.
So, I’m off to see Jerry Seinfeld tonight at the Orpheum theatre in Omaha… I’m totally excited! I can now add Jerry Seinfeld to my list of “Comics I’ve Always Wanted to See Live.” So far that list contains Lewis Black and George Carlin. After Seinfeld I dunno who else is on the list… I’d have to think about it.
Speaking of Jerry, did you get a chance to view his Microsoft commercials? If not, you’d best get to watching because as of today, they’ve halted the campaign:
Microsoft is expected to announce Thursday that it will be suspending its ad campaign featuring Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates and veteran comedy superstar Jerry Seinfeld.
Valleywag broke the news Wednesday, and Microsoft spokesperson Frank Shaw told the LA Times that the move was planned, despite the appearance that the company is reacting to negative reaction to the ads.
According to Mr. Shaw, the Seinfeld portion of the campaign, for which he was reportedly paid some US$10 million, was always intended to be just an introduction for the overall campaign — a two commercial introduction for $10 million.
“All along we said we were having a teaser campaign,” he told the LA Times. “We’re getting ready to start the second phase. This was the plan all along.”
Here is the first commercial:
And the second:
Sad that there won’t be more, but at least we got to enjoy it while it lasted.
Well, I have to go… I need to ponder peanuts on airplanes and why they have that little slot for razors (who is shaving on a plane?!).
It’s been reported on both CNN and Gawker that Sarah Palin’s personal Yahoo account was hacked by the members of Anonymous (it also seems that she did do some personal work from that account, read below):
Did the internet just cause Sarah Palin to destroy evidence? The potential Veep is in a bit of trouble for conducting state business using her personal, unarchived email address (gov.sarah@yahoo.com) instead of her official account (which is, of course, subject to laws requiring the retention of government records). Emails from that Yahoo account are already being sought in connection with the Troopergate investigation. Now comes word that Anonymous, the fun-loving Internet trouble-makers based loosely around the message board 4Chan, gained access to another Palin email account: gov.palin@yahoo.com. It looks legit! The offending posts, screenshots, heretofore unseen family photos, and emails have all been deleted from Imageshack and 4Chan. But we have them. You want to read Sarah Palin’s email?
Many things have been done for the lulz, but this one is very big… I wonder if any far reaching effects will come from it.
Stefan Esser recently warned developers of the dangers of SQL Column Truncation and the weakness of mt_rand(). With his help we worked around these problems and are now releasing WordPress 2.6.2. If you allow open registration on your blog, you should definitely upgrade. With open registration enabled, it is possible in WordPress versions 2.6.1 and earlier to craft a username such that it will allow resetting another user’s password to a randomly generated password. The randomly generated password is not disclosed to the attacker, so this problem by itself is annoying but not a security exploit. However, this attack coupled with a weakness in the random number seeding in mt_rand() could be used to predict the randomly generated password. Stefan Esser will release details of the complete attack shortly. The attack is difficult to accomplish, but its mere possibility means we recommend upgrading to 2.6.2.
Other PHP apps are susceptible to this class of attack. To protect all of your apps, grab the latest version of Suhosin. If you’ve already updated Suhosin, your existing WordPress install is already protected from the full exploit. You should still upgrade to 2.6.2 if you allow open user registration so as to prevent the possibility of passwords being randomized.
Multiple apartments in our area (including at least 4 in our building) had their locks superglued so the families couldn’t get in. Right now I’m listening to one of the repairmen trying to drill through the lock of the people who live across from us (close call for us).
This really sucks… I tell you, each year this place gets worse and worse. Did I mention the dripping roof is back? Yeah, so much for it being fixed. The bright side is we finally have a new head manager and lead repair man this month, so maybe things will start getting taken care of.
Can you believe the guy has worn through 2 drill bits trying to get through our neighbor’s door? He says it’s as if they used an entire tube of glue. We really need cameras in the hallways (and outer doors that actually lock like they’re supposed to), methinks.
Today I awoke to find out that Nintendo has finally given me one of the two things I have been waiting for. Now you can finally play your downloaded games from your SD Card. No longer do you have to use up all of your system memory! Joy of joys!
“Welcome to the SD Card Menu! [...]
On this Veteran’s day we look back and know there are hundreds of thousands military members that are retired and active duty who have placed their lives on the line for our country as well as others. We know of the battles they have fought overseas, but many don’t realize the financial battle many face [...]
SpaceX, the private company established by PayPal’s founder Elon Musk, has made history by successfully launching their Falcon 1 rocket and achieving orbit. Falcon 1 has made history as the first privately developed liquid fueled launch vehicle to achieve earth orbit! The amazing thing about this is that it was only their fourth [...]
