A visit with Janet Evanovich 19 June 2008 at 8:58 am by Jason 593 views

Last night Jessica got to meet one of her favorite authors, Janet Evanovich, who just released her 14th book in her “Stephanie Plum” series.  While I’ve not read any of the books (not too big on the Romance/Mystery genre myself), Jessica is absolutely in love with them, so this morning I went and waited in line at the Borders store that she was appearing at.  Seems they’ve been having huge turnouts (as she’s quite well known) and are making people wear wristbands to determine where they get to be in line.

Luckily we were one of the first people in line to see her (15th, actually!) so we were in and out real quick… based on how packed the place was there were probably people there for hours.  You can see a pic I took of the crowd here (a lot of people showed up):

And of course, here’s a pic of Jess with Mrs. Evanovich and her signing her book:

All in all, it was an eventful night, but Jess is happy and she got to meet one her favorite authors, so that makes me happy I could do that for her.  For any of you wondering if Janet will be coming to your town, check the site below for more info:

+ Visit with Chelsea Clinton By Jason 07 February 2008 at 9:01 pm 174 views No Comments

Today while everyone was clamoring to the completely packed Obama convention here in Omaha, Jess and I heard through the grapevine that Hillary had sent Chelsea to speak on her behalf down in Lincoln. We called UNL (where she was going to be) and got all of the information. We both took half the day off and ran down to Lincoln to see what was going on.

We arrived close to 2:00 PM (when she was scheduled to speak) and the place was packed:

What a crowd!

That pic is just a corner, we were toward the center, and it got even more full as time went on. Anywho, at about 2:15 Chelsea made her appearence. She gave a little speech, then told us that she would answer any questions we had for the next hour or so. The questions ranged from Immigration Reform, to Education, to Environmental Problems. We even had an exchange student from China who asked what Hillary’s stance on Taiwan and Chinese relations were.

Chelsea Speaking

Chelsea managed to answer all of our questions (though she said that if we asked anything she didn’t know, that to just give her our e-mail address and she’d ask her mom and e-mail us the answer), although she ran out of time at the end leaving some people hanging (she did apologize and looked quite upset that she couldn’t get to everyone). After the questions she took time to meet with anyone who wanted to talk to her, get an autograph, or picture. Jess and I got a chance to meet her, I shook her hand and told her that as a New Yorker myself that I was proud of her mom and that she should be proud of her too (which she said she was). She asked if we were going to the caucus on Saturday and we told her we would be there and she told us thanks and took a picture with us:

Chelsea and Us!

I kind of wasn’t ready for the picture to be taken, so please ignore me looking so goofy. After that we took off back to Omaha (after a short stop at the Licorice Store). It was a nice time and I’m hoping there will be a decent turnout for Hillary on Saturday! I guess we’ll just have to wait and see! Until next time, folks!

+ Leo, Dirty Little Rabbits, & Sick Puppies By Jason 05 October 2007 at 7:37 am 5,534 views 2 Comments

Updated (04/10/08): More pics uploaded to my Photo Gallery!  Click here!

I got back so late last night from the concert that I had no time to post… to sum up the whole night I’d hafta go with: “Kickin’ Rad!”. :D

The whole concert was amazing! Jess got Stella Soleil’s autograph, as well as a pic with her:

Stella Soleil and Jessica!

How awesome is that?!

Now, first up for the night is a band called Leo out of Cleveland… I actually was at the bar grabbing a drink when a band member was next to me cheering on the Indians (they went on to beat the Yankees 12-3… ouch!). I was able to snap some good pics of them in action:

Nice, huh? They were very awesome… I’d suggest you check them out! Next up were the Dirty Little Rabbits, a side-project of Shawn Crahan of a little band called Slipknot (you may have heard of them… ;) ). They. Were. Awesome! Check some stills:

Dirty Little Rabbits - On the Guitar!

Dirty Little Rabbits - Hittin' the Skins!

Dirty Little Rabbits - Singin' Her Lungs Out!

It was simply amazing… I hope this band goes as far as it seems they will! :D

Finally after much anticipation the Sick Puppies took the stage… with a special surprise! Tonight we will be videotaped for a DVD of their show! :) Wow!!

That’s right, and based on the show, I think Jess and I will be on there a lot (we’re gonna buy a copy the second it comes out!!). :D Okay, back to the band… amazing. I know I keep saying it, but they were amazing too! They put on a very lively and professional show and I tell you, by the end I could barely hear/move/stand… that’s how awesome it was. :) Now, half-way through the show they had some fans take the stage, and what is this?!

She said yes!

A marriage proposal?! Cool! For those wondering, she said “Yes”. ;) They finished up the show with a few of their hits, such as All the Same, made popular from the Free Hugs Campaign. Here are a few pics from the show:

Afterwards they gave out autographs, etc. Jess and I finally got out of there and home by 12:00 am. Crazy night… but awesome nevertheless! Next concert we’ll be going to is MC Chris…… sweet!
