11-year-old gives $440 to Clinton campaign | The Times West Virginian

11-year-old Dalton Hatfield feels so strongly that Hillary Clinton should be the next president he not only sold his bicycle, but video games and anything else that “I could make money with” to donate to the former first lady’s bid for the nomination.

Not Quite Yet | RealClearPolitics

Elite opinion on the Democratic race has congealed around the idea that it is over. Clinton has no chance whatsoever to win the nomination now. I think she is nearly finished, but not quite yet.

+ Foo Fighters w/ Against Me & Serj Tankian By Jason 29 February 2008 at 12:33 pm 329 views No Comments

Last night we went to the Mid-America Center to see the Foo Fighters, Serj Tankian, and Against Me, and there is only one thing that can be said about this show:

This lineup will rock your face right off. Seriously. My face? Gone. Rocked off. I believe Dave Grohl collects them and stores them in their tour bus for use later (rumor has it that he grinds them up and snorts them before each show).

The seats we won kicked some major ass… we were right in the perfect spot between both stages and we weren’t trampled by the unwashed masses below (then again, we were soaked with beer and saturated with marijuana smoke, so I guess it’s a give and take). The show started right at 7:00 PM with Against Me taking the stage… they put on a great show and it lasted about 30 minutes. Check it:

Once they were all done, the lights came up and the stage was set for a Mr. Serj Tankian, who is doing some solo work (you may know him as the lead singer from a little band called System of a Down). I will tell you this, Serj puts on a great show (it lasted close to an hour)… absolutely brilliant. It was hard to get good shots because of how animated he is (note him trashing the drums in the last pic), but I got a little something for my effort (I need a new “non-professional” camera, it seems):

Finally it was time for the big act… those fighters of foo… the Foo Fighters! The first hour or so of their act was performed on the “main stage” with Dave Grohl showing everyone that he’s still as awesome as we remember. The played a great variety of their old and new stuff, tons of solos (including a drum solo and a triangle solo), and there was just nothing to complain about at all. Pure awesome… here’s a little taste:

At around the mid-way point of the show, the band moved to the smaller “Second” stage, and performed some great acoustic versions of their songs. It was harder to get a good shot while they were there because my camera seemed upset at the lighting, but I got some:

In the end they went back to the main stage to finish off the night, then left….. or did they? After about 5 minutes Dave appeared on the big screen and asked if we wanted an encore… One song? Nah. Two songs? Nah… how about three songs? Sounds great! The band came back out and partied with us for another 15 minutes… it was spectacular:

We ended up getting home after midnight, but it was totally worth it. I can’t wait for our next big concert… I hope to have a better cam by then! :D

+ MC Chris @ The Waiting Room w/ The Family Radio By Jason 19 October 2007 at 10:07 am 118 views No Comments

I was too wiped out by the time I got home last night to make my post, so I’m doin’ it this morning… that’s right, MC Chris rocks so rough I couldn’t blog.

So, the concert was scheduled to start at 9:00 PM, but we didn’t get started until 10:00 PM (the rumor floating around was that they had other bands that were supposed to play, but they didn’t show… I don’t know if it’s true, but it’s a good rumor). First up we had local Omaha boys “The Family Radio“… they were bad ass! First of all, their goal was to beat Final Fantasy VII before the end of their set… they didn’t accomplish their goal, but they were able to beat Jenova, and as they were cleaning up their set and getting ready for MC Chris they did manage to defeat Sephiroth. As far as their music goes, it was highly energetic and was just great… if they put their mind to it they could really go places (although they did say this was their last concert for a long time, so who knows what will happen). Check out some of the shots I took below.

This is how you know a show is gonna rock:

Squaresoft!
Final Fantasy!!
Sephi Sephi Sephiroth!

Now for the band:

So after we were primed by the Family’s block rockin’ beats, it was time for our main course… oh FUCK, it’s goddamn MC Chris!

Oh fuck!

Unfortunately the MC is still recovering from his Hard Drive accidents and didn’t have all of his music loaded up on his Laptop, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t the best show ever! He opened with a great mix of the Mortal Combat theme and the Tiny Toons theme song (once you get it in your head, you can’t get it out) and followed up with most of his popular songs (Geek, Fette’s Vette, FTW, I Want Candy, etc). The audience participation was great… we learned some great moves such as “rap hands” and were ordered to do the robot and throw up gang signs, can’t beat that! Here’s a couple shots of the MC doin’ his thang:

Excellent! After his set he came down to the audience to shake hands and sign whatever we wanted. I got one of his last copies of Dungeon Master of Ceremonies (all sold out forevers now) and had him sign it. I also got a great shot with him… yeah, we be badass rebels, yo:

MC Chris + Me!

He promised he’d be back in the spring, so I look forward to that. Now I need to rest, because I’m running on just a few hours of sleep and am still sick… ugh! Peace out!

+ Leo, Dirty Little Rabbits, & Sick Puppies By Jason 05 October 2007 at 7:37 am 1,614 views 1 Comment

Updated (04/10/08): More pics uploaded to my Photo Gallery!  Click here!

I got back so late last night from the concert that I had no time to post… to sum up the whole night I’d hafta go with: “Kickin’ Rad!”. :D

The whole concert was amazing! Jess got Stella Soleil’s autograph, as well as a pic with her:

Stella Soleil and Jessica!

How awesome is that?!

Now, first up for the night is a band called Leo out of Cleveland… I actually was at the bar grabbing a drink when a band member was next to me cheering on the Indians (they went on to beat the Yankees 12-3… ouch!). I was able to snap some good pics of them in action:

Leo the Band

Nice, huh? They were very awesome… I’d suggest you check them out! Next up were the Dirty Little Rabbits, a side-project of Shawn Crahan of a little band called Slipknot (you may have heard of them… ;) ). They. Were. Awesome! Check some stills:

Dirty Little Rabbits - On the Guitar!

Dirty Little Rabbits - Hittin' the Skins!

Dirty Little Rabbits - Singin' Her Lungs Out!

It was simply amazing… I hope this band goes as far as it seems they will! :D

Finally after much anticipation the Sick Puppies took the stage… with a special surprise! Tonight we will be videotaped for a DVD of their show! :) Wow!!

Camera guy from the show

That’s right, and based on the show, I think Jess and I will be on there a lot (we’re gonna buy a copy the second it comes out!!). :D Okay, back to the band… amazing. I know I keep saying it, but they were amazing too! They put on a very lively and professional show and I tell you, by the end I could barely hear/move/stand… that’s how awesome it was. :) Now, half-way through the show they had some fans take the stage, and what is this?!

She said yes!

A marriage proposal?! Cool! For those wondering, she said “Yes”. ;) They finished up the show with a few of their hits, such as All the Same, made popular from the Free Hugs Campaign. Here are a few pics from the show:

Afterwards they gave out autographs, etc. Jess and I finally got out of there and home by 12:00 am. Crazy night… but awesome nevertheless! Next concert we’ll be going to is MC Chris…… sweet!
