Less than 24 hours to go… 21 December 2005 at 11:22 am by Jason 161 views

…and I feel like we don’t have enough time. :S So close, yet so far away… we still have to finish cleaning the house, do the laundry, pack, show Jess’ dad how to feed our fish, get an oil change, etc.

I wish I had thought ahead and had requested today off. That way I could have been at least helping get stuff done, rather than sitting here trying to figure it all out. Luckily we got a lot done between last night and this morning. The cats are at the vet (they also board animals), the last of our X-mas shopping has been done, I got most of the programs I need for the computers downloaded, I got the laptop charged, etc.

Okay, enough with all my pre-vacation worries… let’s see, what else is going on around the house? Jess is having me redo her blog, since she likes the way mine turned out (it will be similar to mine, but not exact)… so that should be done later today. Since we’re talking about blogs, I updated to WP 2.0RC3… very very nice! It took only about 2 min to setup, and another 4 to redo some custom settings! I love a lot of the new features, so if you’re thinking about upgrading, go for it!

Now then, onto the fish (and fishlike creatures)… Levi has eaten about half of his old shell, so I can stop wondering about that. When we get back I’ll have to take some new pictures of him… he’s gotten quite large. The Bettas are still doing fine, though I worry about their water while I’m gone. I’ve been doing 50% water changes every 2-3 days or so, and we’ll be gone about 5. I’ll have to test it when I get home and see how bad it is (I last changed it on Sat Morning, so it’s been 4 days), hopefully it won’t be that bad so I don’t have to worry about them. The other fish are also doing fine… the Corries have gotten quite big, and are doing great. The only fish I worry about in there are the Glo-Fish™. They have the tendancy to chase each other around and I don’t really know why they do it. I’ll have to do more research on it.

And last (but not least), the cats. We checked them out before we left this morning… Kisa’s eye is doing much better with the eyedrops, and Mishka is doing good as usual… let’s hope they come back from the vet that way (last time Kisa came back with worms, ugh!).

Okay, that’s about all the time I have for now, need to get back to work. Feel free to talk about your upcoming holiday vacations… hopefully they’ll be great! Next post will either be from FL, or when I get back (hopefully I’ll have some new pics for my gallery)! :)

+ Vacation ≠ Rest By Jason 19 December 2005 at 1:06 pm 157 views 2 Comments

Well, we have three more days till we’ll be heading down to FL… I feel like we’ll never be ready. We still have to clean the house (water is once again out today), do some laundry, etc… and if that’s not all I should have to worry about, it seems our kitten (Kisa) has developed conjunctivitis (pinkeye). Lovely. :(

I swear, you should be allowed to get a bonus vacation after you ever take a vacation that involves going anywhere further than your front door.

On the bright side (and a completely different subject), our lobster (Levi) moulted again… although he doesn’t seem to want to eat his old shell this time. I wonder why? Also, the snails are back to being healthy and since I just did about a 50% water change in their old tank, I may put them back. Now, not to leave anyone out, NoName (the rescue betta) is doing excellent and looks like he’s going to make it. His fins are regrowing some and he no longer has any stress lines. :D

Okay, well I need to get back to work (and back to finishing this blog… I should hopefully launch it before I leave), so that’s all the posting you get for today.

+ Life update! By Jason 08 December 2005 at 10:42 am 170 views 1 Comment

Well, it’s only two weeks till Jess and I take off to go to my parent’s house for the holidays! I sure hope the weather will be better than it has been lately.

Let’s see, what else? I was forced into taking a math class this semester… ugh. I hate teh math classes! Also, my mom is recovering from open chest surgery, she just got back home yesterday, so hopefully she’ll be feeling better by the time Jess and I get there.

Also, we changed our fish setup (and got two more fish)! We now have 6 fish tanks in our apartment! We have:

1 28 Gallon tank - containing a school of 4 Neon Tetras, a school of 6 Glo-Lite Tetras, 3 Glo-Fish™, 1 Dalmation Lyretail Molly, 1 Black Sailfin Molly, 2 Albino Cories, 1 Oto, and Ugly the Colombian Ramshorn Snail

1 10 Gallon tank - containing Levi the Lobster (he’s really a blue crayfish), and a yet unnamed Ivory Snail.

1 1 Gallon tank - containing Potato, our Red/Purple Veiltail Betta

1 1 Gallon tank - containing Cotton Candy, our Pink/Blue Veiltail Betta

1 1 Gallon tank - containing NoName*, our Green/Blue Veiltail Betta

1 1 Gallon tank - containing Grumpy Gus, our Red/White Crowntail Betta

I swear, in a years time we’ll have enough fish to call the apartment an aquarium and charge an entry fee. lmao

Okay, well that’s all the news for now! Catch ya on the flipside. ;)

*NoName isn’t his name, he’s a rescue fish and is very sick, if he lives, he’ll get a name.

+ How much is that Betta in the window? By Jason 29 June 2005 at 4:01 pm 52 views No Comments

This is Creamsicle, Jess’ Betta. I decided I’d blog about him today so I don’t have to think about what’s been going on with the apartment. So, Creamsicle lives in our community tank, and amazingly gets along with everyone in it. He is very active, which sucks when it comes to trying to get a nice picture of him. This is the least blurry pic I’ve taken (and this is after taking over 20 pics of him). And… um… well, it seems there’s not much to talk about when it comes to a Betta. hahaOkay, a little about the apartment. Jess called the manager and they’re going to try to work with us to fix all the issues by early next week, so we’ll have to see what happens. That’s it for now, kids!
