Less than 24 hours to go… 21 December 2005 at 11:22 am by Jason 148 views

…and I feel like we don’t have enough time. :S So close, yet so far away… we still have to finish cleaning the house, do the laundry, pack, show Jess’ dad how to feed our fish, get an oil change, etc.

I wish I had thought ahead and had requested today off. That way I could have been at least helping get stuff done, rather than sitting here trying to figure it all out. Luckily we got a lot done between last night and this morning. The cats are at the vet (they also board animals), the last of our X-mas shopping has been done, I got most of the programs I need for the computers downloaded, I got the laptop charged, etc.

Okay, enough with all my pre-vacation worries… let’s see, what else is going on around the house? Jess is having me redo her blog, since she likes the way mine turned out (it will be similar to mine, but not exact)… so that should be done later today. Since we’re talking about blogs, I updated to WP 2.0RC3… very very nice! It took only about 2 min to setup, and another 4 to redo some custom settings! I love a lot of the new features, so if you’re thinking about upgrading, go for it!

Now then, onto the fish (and fishlike creatures)… Levi has eaten about half of his old shell, so I can stop wondering about that. When we get back I’ll have to take some new pictures of him… he’s gotten quite large. The Bettas are still doing fine, though I worry about their water while I’m gone. I’ve been doing 50% water changes every 2-3 days or so, and we’ll be gone about 5. I’ll have to test it when I get home and see how bad it is (I last changed it on Sat Morning, so it’s been 4 days), hopefully it won’t be that bad so I don’t have to worry about them. The other fish are also doing fine… the Corries have gotten quite big, and are doing great. The only fish I worry about in there are the Glo-Fish™. They have the tendancy to chase each other around and I don’t really know why they do it. I’ll have to do more research on it.

And last (but not least), the cats. We checked them out before we left this morning… Kisa’s eye is doing much better with the eyedrops, and Mishka is doing good as usual… let’s hope they come back from the vet that way (last time Kisa came back with worms, ugh!).

Okay, that’s about all the time I have for now, need to get back to work. Feel free to talk about your upcoming holiday vacations… hopefully they’ll be great! Next post will either be from FL, or when I get back (hopefully I’ll have some new pics for my gallery)! :)

+ It’s the most busyful time of the year By Jason 13 December 2005 at 8:23 am 68 views No Comments

Wow, it’s almost Christmas/Chanukah/Holiday time and I feel like I’ll never get through it. Jess and I still have presents to buy (some people just can’t tell ya what they want), and we still have all our cards to be sent out (not just Christmas/Holiday/Chanukah cards, but engagement notices for our families as well). While that normally isn’t bad, time isn’t on our side… we’re going to my parent’s for the holidays, and we need everything done by then.

Since we’re leaving, we need to get the cats boarded, and also show her dad how to take care of our millions of fish, so that they don’t starve/eat each other while we’re gone. That also means we need to clean the house up pretty good, but oh noes! Our water stopped working last night and won’t be on till noon today….. at soonest! That put a damper on cleaning… and cooking.

Anyways, the holidays are almost here and I’m sure once it’s over I’ll feel much more relaxed! Feel free to comment on your own holiday rush.

+ Mmmm… Sulfuric Acid By Jason 26 September 2005 at 8:52 pm 54 views No Comments

Yesterday Jess and I decided to make chili for dinner because we hadn’t had it for awhile. So we made a list, headed out to the car, and went to the grocery store. Wait, sorry, between “headed out to the car” and “went to the grocery store”, I forgot “sat in parking lot with dead car for a few hours”. Yep, seems our car died. So, since I don’t have all the tools needed (or the experience) we called Jess’ dad to come help. After a bunch of checking we determined it to be a dead battery. So we get jump started and head over to the auto parts store. Upon starting to take out the old battery, we discovered it wasn’t dead, it was broken, and leaking acid (which sizzled when it hit the ground, like some freaky cartoon). What caused it to break? Who knows. Either way, we got a new battery and went on our way, but I’ll tell ya, carrying a battery that’s spilling out acid isn’t as fun as it sounds.

Okay, tomorrow I leave on a business trip so the next entry will be from on the road! :)
