I was playing with my boss’ Nikon D80 camera the other day, and I thought I’d test out his macro lens. I thought this was a pretty nice pic of my Paradise Fish, Charlie:

I only wish I could find an Albino to have at home… I had tried to save a sick one from a pet store, but he didn’t make it (he had a gash on his side and they were going to put him down. I treated him, but it was already infected… poor little guy). On the bright side, it made me go look for that breed of fish and I ended up finding Charlie!
I found Bully the Molly dead this morning in our community tank. He hasn’t been well the past few days, as it seems he got into a fight with our new German Blue Ram on Thursday (most likely, he was trying to be a bully… and the Ram didn’t want to deal with it). They hadn’t had any fights before or after, but Jess saw the end of it (when he was bit). He was bit near his stomach, and while it wasn’t a bad bite, it was a very bad place to get a bite.
We’ve had Bully in the tank for about a year (more or less), and he had a lot of personality (more than most of the other fish, by far). He was a big bully… he used to literally push around the other fish in the tank. I figure that they never minded, or wanted to fight back, as he was bigger than them (as he never injured them).
I don’t think we’ll replace him any time soon, and I’m not even sure we will, unless our last molly (Scaredy) has issues being the only molly in the tank (I know they like to be with other mollies).
Such a sad morning… I hate losing any fish, but losing one that we had for that long and had that much personality is very upsetting.
Here’s the last good picture I got of him…. you can see him in a few of the other pics as well:

R.I.P. Bully The Molly
Alright kids, after lots of testing, my Fishtank Cam is live!! Click HERE to check it out! Also, dig out my setup:

Not too bad for a first try! I’ll write up another post in a couple days as a “How to” guide for those wanting to do it themselves. Feel free to drop some comments below!
So, Jess and I were out and about today looking at fish, and I found someone I wanted to bring home! We are now the proud owners of a German Blue Ram Cichlid! We don’t know whether it’s a male or female, as it’s very young (too young to tell), but here’s what it will look like when he/she grows up:

Nice, huh? Well, I’m off again… need to go clean up the house and get ready for the New Year!
EDIT - Here’s a shot of our little fish just checkin’ out the tank:
