I hate taking my math class. Yes, I know it’s good for me, yes I know I need to take it to get my degree, but I still don’t like it.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I don’t have anything against math in general. In fact, I use it all the time! My problem is with certain math professors, and math homework. I think that if I get 80%+ on all my tests, quizes, etc… I shouldn’t have to do 200+ problems a week of homework (shouldn’t 50 problems be enough to show that I either do or don’t understand the work??). Did I mention I hate homework? Oh, and after working my full time job (and doing all the other erands around the house that I have to do), I’m not really in the mood to stay up till 11:00 PM doing word problems before I can rest for the first time that day.
Okay, now I know homework is here to stay (and there’s nothing I can do about it), so here’s my biggest gripe… certain math professors. I’m taking my class online, so I don’t have all that much contact with my professor. Among other things, she makes us do double work… she tells us she doesn’t grade the odd problems, but yet it’s required we do them. Next, I was told that I’m supposed to work the problems vertically, not horizontally (easier for her to read, she says). That little tidbit of info would have been nice to know after she marked the last page of my work wrong for it. Ugh, I feel like I’m back in High School.
At least I’ll be done (with math, at least) in a month. I really can’t wait.
