It’s just never-ending! 21 May 2008 at 4:55 pm by Jason 222 views

New info. Went through the scan today, the Radiology dept was confused why I’d be scheduled again, but if the doc says do it, they do it. Keep in mind it usually works like:

  1. Take 5 milicurries of I131
  2. Wait a week
  3. Get a scan.

I did this last week, and while the results were good, the doc wanted me to do it again, only this time he ordered me to take a larger dose of radiation (159 milicurries) to burn off any thyroid tissue that the blood work (not the scan) showed may still be in my body. That’s over 30x the amount of radiation I’d normally have prior to doing a scan (not counting any leftover from the original 5). So, I did what he asked:

  1. I took 159 milicurries of I131
  2. Waited a week
  3. Got a scan (today).

Guess what? I get home and there is a message to call the Radiology department.  So I give a call and what did they tell me?  Well, I still have so much radiation in my body, they can’t see anything clearly on the scan. That’s right… today was worthless, so they need me to wait another week for it to clear out some more to see if they can get a clearer pic. Sigh. My day went from “Thank God, it’s over!” to “Wonderful, another week (at least) off my meds.”  Oh, did I mention they’re doing construction on the hospital and with 2 min left of my scan the power cut out?  Yeah, had to do it twice today because they have no backup generator or UPS in that department yet.

It started with 27 days off. As of today I’ve been off 36, and now by the next scan it’ll have been 42. What happens if the scan still isn’t clear? If you guessed “wait another week,” then ding ding ding, we have a winner… at least according to the tech I talked to (she suggested I call my doc, but all of them are out today, so I have to call tomorrow).  Seriously, I’m just so upset.  :(

Okay, that’s all for now… I’m so over this.  The constant taking days off (bye, bye, vacation time!  I didn’t need you!), the feeling like crap, everything.  I’m just over it.  The new Indiana Jones movie comes out tonight, and I bought tickets way in advance to the midnight showing and now since I’ve been off my meds for so long (and because I have to go in to work tomorrow) I’m not sure if I should attempt to go.  Argh!  We even are now talking about the trip to Denver we’ve had planned for months because at this rate I will have only been on my meds for a few weeks.  Hell, Jess has already had to alter whatever she had planned for my birthday because of all this nonsense.

Okay, I need to end this post because I’m too “ranty” right now and I need to figure out what I’m going to do tonight.  Ugh!

+ Back in NE By Jason 30 March 2007 at 3:42 pm 70 views No Comments

I’ve arrived back in NE after a drive from Hell. I’ve never seen roads so foggy in all my life! I’m honestly just glad to get back to somewhere with a decent internet connection. There’s no way GMail should take more than 60 seconds to open up. Ugh!

+ Life update! By Jason 08 December 2005 at 10:42 am 153 views 1 Comment

Well, it’s only two weeks till Jess and I take off to go to my parent’s house for the holidays! I sure hope the weather will be better than it has been lately.

Let’s see, what else? I was forced into taking a math class this semester… ugh. I hate teh math classes! Also, my mom is recovering from open chest surgery, she just got back home yesterday, so hopefully she’ll be feeling better by the time Jess and I get there.

Also, we changed our fish setup (and got two more fish)! We now have 6 fish tanks in our apartment! We have:

1 28 Gallon tank - containing a school of 4 Neon Tetras, a school of 6 Glo-Lite Tetras, 3 Glo-Fish™, 1 Dalmation Lyretail Molly, 1 Black Sailfin Molly, 2 Albino Cories, 1 Oto, and Ugly the Colombian Ramshorn Snail

1 10 Gallon tank - containing Levi the Lobster (he’s really a blue crayfish), and a yet unnamed Ivory Snail.

1 1 Gallon tank - containing Potato, our Red/Purple Veiltail Betta

1 1 Gallon tank - containing Cotton Candy, our Pink/Blue Veiltail Betta

1 1 Gallon tank - containing NoName*, our Green/Blue Veiltail Betta

1 1 Gallon tank - containing Grumpy Gus, our Red/White Crowntail Betta

I swear, in a years time we’ll have enough fish to call the apartment an aquarium and charge an entry fee. lmao

Okay, well that’s all the news for now! Catch ya on the flipside. ;)

*NoName isn’t his name, he’s a rescue fish and is very sick, if he lives, he’ll get a name.

+ Kevin Naughton By Jason 06 September 2005 at 4:42 pm 35 views No Comments

So Jess won tickets for us to go to a comedy club out here last Saturday and see someone named “Kevin Naughton”. So as I always do, I googled him (I like to know a little about the act before I go). It turns out there’s not much about him on the web, so I thought I’d say a little something.

First and formost, if Clay Aiken and Ryan Stiles ever have a love child, I’m pretty sure he’ll look like Mr. Naughton. Second, he’s funny as hell. I am amazed I hadn’t ever heard of him, and even more amazed there’s not much about him on the web. Anyway, his comedy is essentially “angry comic” plus a bit of observational humor. I thought it was great. His “Don’t make me snap” bit is classic. While he drops a curse word now and then, he’s not raunchy, so if you worry about that kind of stuff, don’t. I suggest if he’s ever in town, go check him out. :D

+ Pictures and other recording devices not allowed By Jason 11 July 2005 at 12:51 pm 147 views No Comments

Well, Lewis Black was funny as hell, but they didn’t allow us to bring in cameras. I had been hoping to snag a picture of him, but oh well. Jess and I were about 4 feet from the stage (the second closest table), so that was awesome.

Besides that, not much else to tell. Sunday was spent cleaning, I also cleaned up the fish tank and snapped a new picture of Levi:

I finally found a better setting on the camera. Boy that’s crisp! While I cleaned the tank I decided to change the cardboard preventing his escape to Aluminum mesh. Looks nicer and is a bit stronger.Okay, that’s all for now… back to coding!
