Jess and I got semi-interviewed today on a Podcast, and you can check it out/listen below:

Jason & Jessica on the “Featuring Who?” Podcast

Some of the things that we discussed:

  1. How Jess and I found Neowin (a forum we belong to) and how we became staff.
  2. Our computer setups.
  3. Discussion about Virtual Machines (Sun xVM VirtualBox 1.6.4, specifically).
  4. Microsoft’s Mohave Experiment backfiring
  5. Travelers’ Laptops May be Detained At the Border

It’s a fun little listen… I feel like a huge nerd, but what else is new?  Enjoy!

Ahoy there, Bruce Campbell fans… this is a very small update but it was revealed to me today that the trailer for My Name is Bruce is finally out!  Click the link below:

Looks awesome!  That’s all for now… going to St. Louis tomorrow to see Jess’ grandparents then next week we finally get a real vacation.  Whoo!

+ Our trip to Texas By Jason 24 June 2008 at 11:02 am 171 views No Comments

We got back from Texas on Sunday, but I didn’t have a chance to post anything.  The trip was pretty good… the hotel we stayed at was nice (even though there was some confusion when we showed up and had to wait for them to clean a room) and Killeen hasn’t changed much since I visited there 8 years ago (different reason).

Jess got to see her family and we pretty much just sat around and hung out at their house.  Jess helped her dad put together a big porch swing for everyone to sit on, which you can see here (along with Jess and I with our niece, Catie):

Jess, Catie, and I!

She’s pretty cute, ain’t she?  She’s just 5 months old now, and hopefully we get to see more of her in the future (she’s officially a military brat).  Aside from that, nothing much eventful happened… Jess’ mom won’t know the results from her tests for a couple of weeks, so once we know what the docs think we can figure out what to do.  I did, however, get plenty of pictures while I was down there… since we already have one of Jess and I, here is a shot of three generations of the Jones clan:

The Jones clan!

Such a happy looking family!  Hopefully everything goes well with her mom and they can enjoy each other’s company for a long time to come!

+ A Texasing we will go By Jason 19 June 2008 at 5:00 pm 162 views No Comments

Nothing says fun like a last minute emergency trip, right?  Well, we’re off to Texas tonight to see Jessica’s family because her mother is ill again, and while most likely it’s not life-threatening, she is worreid and has requested all family come down and see her as soon as possible.  Luckily I’m feeling better now, and while not 100%, I should be well enough to make this trip without feeling too bad.

It’s a 12 hour trip and I’m going to be driving straight through… fun, eh?  I’ll try and update my blog while I’m down there (bringing my spare wireless router and our laptops), but no promises as I have no idea what everyone’s plans are.  One sad thing is that I used to live just 45 minutes away from where we’re going, and I don’t think I’ll be able to visit (both Jess and I have to be back to work on Monday).  Oh well.  The bright side of the trip is that I’ll get to see my niece, which will be nice, as we’ve yet to be able to see her (she just turned 5 months old a couple days ago).

Fun times… more when I get time!

+ A visit with Janet Evanovich By Jason 19 June 2008 at 8:58 am 194 views No Comments

Last night Jessica got to meet one of her favorite authors, Janet Evanovich, who just released her 14th book in her “Stephanie Plum” series.  While I’ve not read any of the books (not too big on the Romance/Mystery genre myself), Jessica is absolutely in love with them, so this morning I went and waited in line at the Borders store that she was appearing at.  Seems they’ve been having huge turnouts (as she’s quite well known) and are making people wear wristbands to determine where they get to be in line.

Luckily we were one of the first people in line to see her (15th, actually!) so we were in and out real quick… based on how packed the place was there were probably people there for hours.  You can see a pic I took of the crowd here (a lot of people showed up):

And of course, here’s a pic of Jess with Mrs. Evanovich and her signing her book:

All in all, it was an eventful night, but Jess is happy and she got to meet one her favorite authors, so that makes me happy I could do that for her.  For any of you wondering if Janet will be coming to your town, check the site below for more info:
