Well I’m back at work after the Labor Day weekend, and man, I sure hate computers! Why? Well it’s simple, they make it their job to upset me. Let’s look at the facts:

1. I spent over 10 hours trying to fix up an old PC to run DOS on it. It refused to get video, and when it suddenly did, it refused to see the CDROM or Hard Drive. What fixed it, after 10 hours? Who knows. It just suddenly decided to work. It’s been working like a champ for three days now.2. I was testing a motherboard I had in my closet, and everything looked fine. I placed my spare AthlonXP 1800 inside, and poof… burnt cpu. Nice, I have a cpu destroying motherboard.

3. At work I’ve been fighting with a computer that is going to be used for a new employee tomorrow. Out of the blue it decided it needs a nap of about 40 minutes or so before starting. What’s wrong? Who knows. The CPU isn’t touched, neither is the RAM or Hard Drive. It just sits there, looking at me. I’ve tried all but a format, and it still does it.

So there’s three examples of why computers hate me. I’m sure I could think of more if I tried. Anyway, onto the good stuff. I have a new favorite vodka! Yep! Chopin Vodka, awesome stuff. It’s the smoothest vodka I’ve ever had, and the first I’ve ever been able to sip by itself without wondering if it wasn’t vodka, but a very clear diesel fuel. Will I find one better than Chopin? We shall see. Jess and I plan to do a vodka blind taste test in the near future, so expect the results to be posted. :)

+ State fairs and pink hairs… By Jason 29 August 2005 at 8:53 am 46 views No Comments

So, this weekend Jess and I decided to go to the Nebraska State Fair. Last year we had gone to the Iowa State Fair and it was great, we spent the entire day there and didn’t get to do everything, so we thought we’d be able to spend the entire day at the Nebraska one as well. Boy, were we wrong. We showed up at about 9:00 and by 12:00 we had seen everything (some things we saw more than once). There was a concert we wanted to see at 7:00… but we just couldn’t think of anything to do until then. After wandering around for about an hour, we decided to just leave. Jess had hurt her foot, and we just were too bored to go on. The weird thing is, they were discussing getting rid of the fair last year, and the state rallied to keep it, but I just don’t see why… there’s nothing there. We ended up spending the rest of the day just relaxing at home and complaining about the fair.

I know what you’re thinking “Explain the pink hairs, already!!”. Okay, here it goes. Before we went to the fair, we decided to dye Jess’ hair pink (for the concert) so we bought some “Atomic Pink” hair dye, and dyed her hair. It didn’t look bad, I thought it was quite cute… see for yourself:

As you can see, she wasn’t thrilled. Anywho, she got a new job and it starts on Monday (today) and she wanted to get the dye out. Therein lies the problem… it wouldn’t come out. She washed her hair about 12 times on Sat, and it still didn’t come out. I came up with a concoction of 40% Witchhazel (65%), to 60% Isopropyl Alcohol (93%). to pour on her hair. Amazingly it worked great, but it still didn’t get all the dye out. So she decided to dye over the pink. So we went to the store and purchased “Red Pulse” hair dye. So, it turns out that “Atomic Pink” + “Red Pulse” on light brown hair turns into a kind of Neon Maroon (the neon can only be seen in person)… a nice close-up of it here:
So, I think it’s cute, and she likes it’s better than the Pink… so that’s good. If you’re wondering, this is her with her natural hair color:
Anyways, I told her I’d make her feel better and dye my hair this Friday (it’s a 3-day weekend, so I should be able to get the dye out by Tuesday). So here’s the question, what color should I dye it? I have very dark brown hair, and I’m not bleaching it, so the colors to choose from are Black, Purple, Blue, or Green. Feel free to comment on what color you think I should go with, and you’ll see pics of the results in a week or so. ;)

+ Raise it up, and bring it on down By Jason 15 July 2005 at 7:04 pm 36 views No Comments

So, I got my second review done here at work, and they like me enough to give me another raise! Whooo! Very nice to hear, this will definitely help Jess and I save up for things we need (and for the wedding we keep delaying).

Speaking of Jess, she’s not doing too hot. She hates her job right now… enough that she wishes she’d get fired. What set it off? Her boss had written something for her to print out (500+ copies), and after having the printer break down twice (both different issues that required a repairman to come out, and her to start over each time), it turned out that her boss had miswrote something, so Jess had to re-print it all. Jess never really liked the job, but it pays very well so she tolerates it for the most part, just about once every month or so, something like this happens and it just crushes her. It’s very sad. I really want to tell her she can quit, but if she can stick it out till December, we should have enough saved for me to feel comfortable with her quitting.

Anyway, I feel like a jerk since I’m the one essentially telling her to stay at a job she doesn’t like. Also, I can handle much more work related stress than she can… so trying to make her feel better isn’t quite working. I hate seeing her like this… she just kinda spaces out, sleeps a lot, doesn’t really eat, etc. Of course the entire time I feel like crap, because I see it as mainly my fault… I’m officially making more than I ever have in my life, and I don’t feel very happy at all. All I can hope is that she recovers and can make it till Dec, then everything should be golden.

+ Sorry for the long delay, everyone! By Jason 05 September 2004 at 7:24 pm 123 views No Comments

I’m sure some of you out there were wondering why there’s been no new information for about two months. Well, turns out moving takes a lot more time than I thought. I’ve spent all my time getting used to the new area, job hunting, etc. Anyway, I’m back now and expect the site to be updated regularly like it used to!

So, if you haven’t heard, the newest APXP release is out. It’s for those of you not wanting to upgrade to SP2 (turns out there’s a lot of you out there). Also, AP2000 is nearing completion, thanks to Optiplex (the Neowinian, not the computer), and my new system (at least 5 times better than my old system).

Anyway, that’s all the news for now… enjoy the patcher, and stay tuned for more updates!!!

+ 1 is the loneliest number that you’ll ever do… By Jason 06 June 2004 at 2:37 pm 37 views No Comments

What a busy weekend! I spent most of Saturday at the office trying to finish up everything before I leave (by the way, do you live in the Panama City area and want a job? Click this link then to see if you can fill it: Get My Job!). So imagine my surprise when I checked the donations and found out we have hit (and surpassed) our 100th!! So it looks like a winner has been named and we will have all the prizes given out soon! Also, all the other donators should be expecting their e-mails within the week!

So, thanks once again for all donations, it has really helped get everything up and running all around. And for those wondering, yes, we’ll have a new contest coming up as we get closer to out 250th donation, so anyone wishing they were the winner will have another chance in the coming months!

Also, on a sadder note, as much of you know, Ronald Reagan passed away yesterday. He was America’s oldest living ex-President, staying with us to the ripe old age of 93. Rest in peace, Gipper… rest in peace. Also today marks the anniversary of D-Day, 60 years ago today.
