Safe & Sound in sunny Florida 22 December 2005 at 5:39 pm by 297 views

Hey everyone, you’ll be glad to know that I’ve arrived in FL and all is well. Jess is asleep, my parents (and sister) have gone out for the night, and my brother is playin’ WoW. Ah… nice to finally have some peace! Unfortunately this is all you get for now… expect another update (and maybe some pics) in the coming days!

Wow, it’s almost Christmas/Chanukah/Holiday time and I feel like I’ll never get through it. Jess and I still have presents to buy (some people just can’t tell ya what they want), and we still have all our cards to be sent out (not just Christmas/Holiday/Chanukah cards, but engagement notices for our families as well). While that normally isn’t bad, time isn’t on our side… we’re going to my parent’s for the holidays, and we need everything done by then.

Since we’re leaving, we need to get the cats boarded, and also show her dad how to take care of our millions of fish, so that they don’t starve/eat each other while we’re gone. That also means we need to clean the house up pretty good, but oh noes! Our water stopped working last night and won’t be on till noon today….. at soonest! That put a damper on cleaning… and cooking.

Anyways, the holidays are almost here and I’m sure once it’s over I’ll feel much more relaxed! Feel free to comment on your own holiday rush.

+ Life update! By 08 December 2005 at 10:42 am 598 views 1 Comment

Well, it’s only two weeks till Jess and I take off to go to my parent’s house for the holidays! I sure hope the weather will be better than it has been lately.

Let’s see, what else? I was forced into taking a math class this semester… ugh. I hate teh math classes! Also, my mom is recovering from open chest surgery, she just got back home yesterday, so hopefully she’ll be feeling better by the time Jess and I get there.

Also, we changed our fish setup (and got two more fish)! We now have 6 fish tanks in our apartment! We have:

1 28 Gallon tank – containing a school of 4 Neon Tetras, a school of 6 Glo-Lite Tetras, 3 Glo-Fishâ„¢, 1 Dalmation Lyretail Molly, 1 Black Sailfin Molly, 2 Albino Cories, 1 Oto, and Ugly the Colombian Ramshorn Snail

1 10 Gallon tank – containing Levi the Lobster (he’s really a blue crayfish), and a yet unnamed Ivory Snail.

1 1 Gallon tank – containing Potato, our Red/Purple Veiltail Betta

1 1 Gallon tank – containing Cotton Candy, our Pink/Blue Veiltail Betta

1 1 Gallon tank – containing NoName*, our Green/Blue Veiltail Betta

1 1 Gallon tank – containing Grumpy Gus, our Red/White Crowntail Betta

I swear, in a years time we’ll have enough fish to call the apartment an aquarium and charge an entry fee. lmao

Okay, well that’s all the news for now! Catch ya on the flipside. ;)

*NoName isn’t his name, he’s a rescue fish and is very sick, if he lives, he’ll get a name.

+ Rings, Ribs, and Racists… By 22 August 2005 at 9:50 am 236 views No Comments

So, I’ve had a bunch to talk about, but no time to post! Sheesh!

First and foremost, we finally got Jessica her engagement ring! It’s taken about a year to get the “perfect” ring. We found one about 4 months ago, but it seems when we were ready to get it, they pulled the entire line (I really wish I knew why that was). Anyway, after a long day of searching, we ended up at Whitehall Jewelers (where I had gotten Jess her last ring, 4 years ago… same company, different state). We looked at a few rings, didn’t see what we wanted, and were about to go, when the lady helping us told us that we could create a ring from existing jewlery in the store, and their jeweler would make it for us. So we chose to combine a necklace and a topaz ring (plus whateve the jeweler wanted) to make it. A few weeks later we got it back and it was perfect! Here’s a picture (though not the best):

We’re very happy with it, and recommend Whitehall if you’re looking for any jewelery. :D Okay, next subject! Ribs! Jess and I went to the Iowa ribfest on Saturday and had a blast! I have to tell you, if you ever have the chance to have ribs from Johnson’s BBQ (the one outside Norfolk VA) you need to eat them. They were hands down the best ribs and sauce there (and we tried all but two). No one else was even close! It’s amazing that they haven’t branched out across the country. Mmmm… ribs.

And finally, we’re on to the racists. It turns out (and this, I didn’t know) that Jess’ family is extremely racist. Luckily she’s not… but they, wow… they are. It turns out her sister is going to the dorms for college, and will have a 22 year old Muslim girl as a roommate. So what did she do? She called the school to scream at them and demand they give her another roommate (the school so far has told her “no”). She thinks that the girl could be part of a sleeper cell, she might attack her, etc, etc. She knows nothing of this woman other than she’s here on a Student Visa, and is muslim. She could be from any country, could be any race, could be the nicest girl in the world, but Jess’ sister doesn’t care. She’s muslim, she’s bad. Now, if it was just her sister, I’d be shocked, but not as upset ad I am. It seems not only her sister, but her parents (both of them) and her fiance also agree with her!! Now, her fiance is going to Iraq in a couple months, and her dad is in the Air Force…. and they agree? They should be the ones to explain the difference between muslims and terrorists to her… not agree!! Argh!! Jess had a huge talk with her mom, and she couldn’t sway her one bit. At one point they even told Jess that Muslims need to just go back where they came from!! What in the world??? *sigh* This upsets me so bad… and there’s nothing I can do about it. Grrrr!

Okay, well… that’s all from me for now, time to get back to work! :)

+ Birthdays and more! By 08 July 2005 at 8:48 am 190 views No Comments

Today is my brother’s birthday. He doesn’t actually get online much (and lives very far away from me), but I thought I’d mention it was his 19th birthday anyway. I really need to remember to send out his card/gift.

Let’s see, what else… my parents and siblings are in the path of Hurricane Dennis, hopefully it doesn’t hit them too hard. We’ll have to wait and see this weekend what happens.

Well, that’s about it for now… have fun on your Friday!
