+ WordPress 2.5 delayed, but you can play! By 13 March 2008 at 7:02 am 433 views No Comments

The WordPress 2.5 release may have been delayed a week, but you can still go play with it! Check out the latest version here:

WordPress 2.5 Demo Page

While the outside looks about the same, the admin pages have gotten a huge upgrade. For those wanting to be the first one running it out of the gate, be sure and check out the WordPress Upgrade Preparation Checklist… it has great advice and links to some great tools (such as the WordPress Upgrade Preflight Check Plugin), I think it should help those who don’t like upgrading things.

I’m looking forward to the new release… hell, it’d be real nice if I could complete the redesign and do both at once! I guess if I were to do that I’d have to really pick up the pace, but if anyone can do it, I can!

+ Bad Behavior By 04 March 2008 at 8:10 pm 392 views No Comments

Over the past couple days I’ve noticed an influx of what appear to be spambots with IP Addresses such as: 38.100.41.100 , 63.247.78.178 , 69.63.112.114 , etc. After first thinking about blocking the addresses manually, I stumbled upon Bad Behavior.

This plugin is supposed to stop sites from being scraped, when plugins like Spam Karma aren’t enough. We’ll see how this works… give it a try if you suddenly see a huge amount of requests coming from certain IPs.

+ Minor site update! By 03 March 2008 at 4:17 pm 672 views No Comments

I’ve added a brand new “Stats” area while working on the new design (which will have one built in to the code)… you can see it here:

<————– Look that way!

The downside? By default all the “Views” start at a nice round 0. Ugh. I’ve looked and I’ve yet to find a way to “restore” the number of views to what it really should be (from what I can tell, WordPress doesn’t keep track of that). Oh well. I guess it’s better late than never, right? :)

Enjoy!
