I’m sure most of you remember Levi… he was my pet Blue Crayfish that I got for my birthday back in 2005. In fact, the very first post in my blog on this domain (after the AutoPatcher blog) involved Levi. He lived a pretty good life, he was almost three years old, which from what I can tell online, is the average lifespan for a crayfish like him. It’s really sad that he’s gone… I dunno if we’re going to get another, or if we’re going to wait a while. The first pic below was taken the day we got him… you’ll not he’s about the size of the gravel. In the second pic it was his full-grown size… note how big he is compared to the same gravel. He grew a lot while we had him, and if anyone out there is thinking of a Blue Lobster as a pet, I’d suggest you get one young so you can watch him grow up!

You can see a bunch more of his pics here in my photo gallery… he will be missed, such an interesting creature.
For those wondering, he died from what appeared to be old age. Over the past 3 months he has slowed down… not moving around as much and 2 days ago he kind of went and layed in a corner of the tank. He was still alive yesterday, he moved his claws at me when I tapped him, but today he was still… I figure as far as deaths go, it was a pretty peaceful one.

For some reason the software that runs my fishcam has been freezing on me lately and crashing. Unfortunately this means you out there can’t see the tank. I plan on changing software again to see if I can get a nice, stable stream.
I was previously using a different software that worked great, but froze randomly, so I switched. That program now has a new beta which says it fixes the freezing bug, so I think I may give it a try and see how it works. Thanks for your patience while I’m trying to get it working… I haven’t had all that much time between my job issues and my college work.
Well, I did another water change in the tank yesterday (I wonder how many of you saw that?) and I decided it was safe enough to re-add the snails to the tank (after risking my fingers to pull them from the lobster tank). They have mainly been sticking to the back wall (as it’s got a bit of algae on it), but you may see them slimin’ around.
For those wondering, we have two snails in there… one Ivory Snail (who has a messed up shell, it had been damaged when we got him and it healed kinda weird), and one large Colombian Ram’s Horn snail. We’ve had both for awhile, but had them put in the Lobster tank a couple months ago while I treated the tank for Ich.
That’s all for now… stay tuned for more updates later!
So, Jess and I were out and about today looking at fish, and I found someone I wanted to bring home! We are now the proud owners of a German Blue Ram Cichlid! We don’t know whether it’s a male or female, as it’s very young (too young to tell), but here’s what it will look like when he/she grows up:

Nice, huh? Well, I’m off again… need to go clean up the house and get ready for the New Year!
EDIT – Here’s a shot of our little fish just checkin’ out the tank:

Well, we have three more days till we’ll be heading down to FL… I feel like we’ll never be ready. We still have to clean the house (water is once again out today), do some laundry, etc… and if that’s not all I should have to worry about, it seems our kitten (Kisa) has developed conjunctivitis (pinkeye). Lovely.
I swear, you should be allowed to get a bonus vacation after you ever take a vacation that involves going anywhere further than your front door.
On the bright side (and a completely different subject), our lobster (Levi) moulted again… although he doesn’t seem to want to eat his old shell this time. I wonder why? Also, the snails are back to being healthy and since I just did about a 50% water change in their old tank, I may put them back. Now, not to leave anyone out, NoName (the rescue betta) is doing excellent and looks like he’s going to make it. His fins are regrowing some and he no longer has any stress lines.
Okay, well I need to get back to work (and back to finishing this blog… I should hopefully launch it before I leave), so that’s all the posting you get for today.
